Angry Birds Developer To Trade In Baby Merchandise

The most widely used game which is present in every single smartphone and tablet will be soon seen on baby merchandise. Rovio, the developer of Angry Birds, has decided to move into the baby product business.

Rovio is keen to expand its business and seeing the success of its Angry Birds game, it can be said that the gaming company will succeed in its goal. Angry Birds toys are already available in the market and they too are being liked by a lot of people.

The Finland based company was started by 3 students and was sponsored by Nokia and HP in its initial stage but now it has become a multi-million dollar company.

Ville Heijari, vice president of franchise development, said that the company’s top priority will be game development for sure but at the same time it wants to enter merchandising venture as it is one of the fastest growing businesses.

Baby Merchandise will include a lot of products like a 42-inch square blanket having images of angry birds. Apart from baby products, Rovio will also provide flip-flops, bags and the iPhone cases with images from its game.

Mark Zuckerberg’s Sister Leaves Facebook

Randi Zuckerberg, the marketing director of Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg’s sister has left her job at Facebook. She resigned from her post after returning from a three month long maternity leave. Facebook has confirmed this news and stated that,”We are grateful for her important service”.

Randi announced that she will be launching her own social networking website, RotZ Media, which will aim at socializing business on the Internet.

Randi Zuckerberg was an employee of Facebook ever since its launch and she said that it was one of the toughest decisions of her life to leave Facebook.

“I have spent my years at Facebook pouring my heart and soul into innovating and pushing the media industry forward by introducing new concepts around live, social, participatory viewing that the media industry has since adopted,” Randi added.

According to Zuckerberg, her future website will work with media in new and more social ways and interaction with media will be innovative rather than a formality.

At this point of time, we cannot say much about RotZ Media as no information about it is available at the moment but one thing about which we are sure is that Facebook will try to fill her position as soon as possible as Facebook’s business relies on marketing mostly.

And who knows, we might find a familiar face from other companies at Facebook.

Twitter To Introduce Paid Tweets ?

The micro blogging site Twitter has introduced a new feature which will allow users to promote their tweets by paying a certain amount of fees to the social networking giant.

These type of ads will be visible to users who follow the advertiser’s brand and will be similar to a normal tweet. As far as we know, companies have started using this feature and currently their followers have started receiving their “paid tweets”.

According to TechCrunch, Adam Bian, the global revenue chief of Twitter, said that,“We’ve found that 20 to 40 percent of users follow one or more brands on Twitter. The one problem we’ve heard from users is that when there is exclusive content or deals, there’s a chance they might miss them.”

Though this service is not a surprise as its beta version has been there since March, it is still worth noting that this is the first time that Twitter has deployed its business strategy.

Till date, users are getting tweets only from the brand they follow, but this policy may get updated in future. One thing good about this feature is that companies will have a large social platform to advertise their products.

Now it is time to talk about some issues with this feature. Technogazette has seen these type of ads and we feel that they can be easily ignored as no new feature in these ads has been used. Some users may find them similar to Facebook ads thus there is no original thought.

We’ll keep you updated on this news.

Nokia’s Smartphone Sales Down: Slips From 1st To 3rd

Nokia is currently undergoing the worst period it has ever seen in its 15 years of business. First it was thrown from its first place by Apple and now Samsung has kicked it out from its second position in smartphone sales.

Nokia held the crown of being the world’s largest smartphone seller but due to its bad sales and tough competition by Apple Inc. and Samsung has made it ending up at the 3rd position. This is first time in the history of the company that it has been replaced by its rivals.

Apple recently announced its second quarter sales to be around 20.3 million iPhones which is the best till now from the American giant. Samsung also sold over1 19 million smartphones which is far ahead of Nokia, which only sold 16.7 million units.

Nokia did not comment on this but an insider said that this may be due to the low demand in smartphone sector. But had low demand been the cause, Apple’s and Samsung’s sales would have been affected too, so it is not the case here.

Nokia has recently announced that it will be dropping its Symbian platform and has made a deal with Microsoft to use its Windows Phone Platform in its future handsets. With this move, Nokia clearly has lost its USP.

Do you think Nokia will be able to get back its position of leading manufacturer?
