Adobe Acquires EchoSign, An Online Electronic Signature Service

In a surprising move today, Adobe Systems acquired EchoSign, a developer of Web-based electronic signature platform. The details of the acquisition have not been made public yet.

According to Adobe’s Acrobat blog, the EchoSign technology “will be integrated with Adobe’s other document services including SendNow for managed file transfer, FormsCentral for form creation and CreatePDF for online PDF creation.”

This deal will help Adobe Systems to increase its consumer base as EchoSign reportedly has over 3 million users. Moreover, this move will enable Adobe to improve its document-handling software which is one of the main products of the company.

Though the use of electronic signatures is on rise, still, it hasn’t been able to see the mainstream. Now, since Adobe is going to enter this area, this sector will eventually grow, seeing the brand power of Adobe Systems.

Currently, EchoSign provides its services to many small and medium-sized businesses and its Application Programming Interface (API) is offered to the companies which enables them to integrate the signature technology with their own procedures for sending, tracking and signing of their documents.

Jason Lemkin, CEO of EchoSign, stated that, “Together, our aim is to make electronic signatures the standard way for people to sign documents and automate contracting.”

Facebook Bans Google+ Advert ?

Not satisfied with making it hard for Google+ users to import their friend contact information, Facebook now has reportedly banned an advertisement that asked Facebook users to follow a particular person on Google+.

Michael Lee Johnson, a web developer, has reportedly been banned from Facebook after his advertisement came into the limelight. He created an ad to publicize his profile on Google+ which asked other users to follow him.

Johnson posted on his Google + profile that he got a message from Facebook saying that his account had been disabled and all of his adverts had been stopped because it violated Facebook’s “Terms of Use or Advertising guidelines”. No specific violations were provided by Facebook.

It will be interesting to see the future of social networking as both of these giants won’t stop until one of them leaves the field. Furthermore, with rumors of Microsoft launching its own social networking platform, this war will intensify for sure.

Though Google+ is still in field trial stage, grabbing 10 million users just in two weeks has made Facebook uneasy. Facebook recently launched a video chat feature in collaboration with Skype as a response to Google+.

Whoever wins this race of social media, one thing is for sure that the common user will be benefited from the increasing competition as it will force the competitors to provide the best services to its end users.
