Windows 8 Launching Next Year ?

Windows lovers are sure to get excited hearing this news. Rumor has it that Windows 8 is going to get released early next year. Though this rumor has been there for a while but still no one has been able to predict the exact date of its launch.

Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft and head of its Windows division recently announced that Windows 8 will be available sometime next year. During a speech at Developer’s Conference in Japan, he said that,”We’re obviously hard at work on the next version of Windows”.

If we believe the report’s findings, we could have Windows 8 at our doorstep in April 2012. One thing that should be noted here is that Microsoft has never admitted that the name of its new Windows is Windows 8. It has always referred to it as “The Next Generation Of Windows”.

Windows 8 will be compatible on any system which is compatible with Windows 7 which means that you won’t have to add any special hardware to your existing computer.

Windows 8 will feature a touch based mechanism which could be used easily on a wide variety of machines. It will also feature a tile interface, which is already deployed in Windows Phone 7. According to Microsoft,” The next generation of Windows will feature everything new ranging from chips to the interface”.

Samsung’s Profit Rises On Mobiles, But Falls On Other Products

The South Korean technology giant is gaining immense profit on its smartphones but is losing its revenues from its other electronic goods. Samsung’s smartphone’s are gaining huge popularity globally, but sadly same cannot be said for its other products.

According to a report, Samsung’s flat screen unit had huge losses in its second quarter and its other electronics suffered same kind of damage. This may be partially due to better alternatives available in the market which provide same features but at comparatively lower costs.

Furthermore, Samsung has failed to provide its users with new services like other Tech giants, Apple and Google, are providing. It is less likely that Samsung will be able to get customers like Apple has got.

Samsung has said that its sales were not good because the whole chip market is suffering from low demand as users get more and more inclined to smartphones as compared to LCDs, LEDs and computers.

If Samsung wants to make its sales comparative to the other manufacturers, it seriously needs to consider providing better services at an affordable price.

Despite its heavy loses, Samsung is going to increase its investment in semiconductors which it thinks will boost up its profits.

iPhone 5 Coming This September ?

Good news for iPhone freaks! If popular rumors are to be believed, we’ll be having iPhone 5 in the early September. The leaked report says that Apple plans to produce 4 million units of the device globally and will be making 400,000 test devices.

This leak comes from a report published in China Times, one of the leading newspapers in China. It says that Apple may launch its best product during this fall when it will host its annual iPod music event. If Apple does so, it will not come of as a big surprise as it has a tradition of launching its new products at its annual programs.

It is also rumored that Apple will be launching its new iPad some time prior to thanksgiving. It will give Apple an advantage of launching two of its best products simultaneously.

Apple already has announced that it will launch iOS 5 in this fall. If it really is going to launch its iPhone 5 during that same period, it will prove best for its sales as users will rush to get their hands on both the device and its new OS.

It is going to be very exciting to see iPhone 5 amidst all the Android sets that have flooded the market.

What do you think? Could Apple’s beast beat its predecessor?

Alibaba Launched A New Mobile OS

Alibaba group has launched its own mobile OS called ‘Aiyun’ which will be deployed in the “K-Touch Cloud Smartphone” manufactured by Tianyu. It was long known that Yahoo’s China partner Alibaba will launch a smartphone OS but its launch date was not confirmed.

The China based company is known for its E-Commerce business. It has developed softwares in the past but its move to enter the mobile OS market has came as a surprise.

The ‘Aiyun’ was developed by its cloud services division AliCloud. This OS will be mostly based on cloud services and will include cloud based e-mail, web search, weather updates and GPS navigation tools.

Though it is a good initiative by the company, still it will be pretty tough for it to compete in the Chinese mobile industry as Symbian owns more than half the market of mobile OS. Plus recent collaboration between Apple and some Chinese manufacturers could see their handsets running iOS in future. Google’s pet Android is also trying to find its place in Chinese mobile industry.

If we talk on an international scene, this OS has a little chance to compete with mainstream OS providers as its manufacturers are still inexperienced in the mobile OS scene.

Do you think Alibaba is ready for an international market?

Apple To Launch An Ultra-Thin MacBook?

According to popular rumors, Apple Inc. will soon launch an ultra-thin MacBook which is already in its final testing stage. It is not yet known whether it will be MacBook Air or MacBook Pro but it is confirmed that it will come in both 15″ and 17″ HD screen.

The release date has not been finalized yet but it is expected to be available near Christmas. This MacBook will have a SSD storage and a DVD writer. These changes are notable because these were missing from some of the previous versions of MacBook. Furthermore, these updates are coming at a time when there is a stiff competition among ultra thin laptops.

The best feature of this MacBook will be its design. It is rumored that it will be super slim and will have a cool body design which will be enough to attract customers.

The market for ultra-thin notebooks is expected to get more competitive as every big name in the tech industry is about to launch its ultra-thin product. Even Intel has announced that it will launch its own series of UltraBooks,

Apple’s MacBook has great features ranging from iOS 5, iTunes, to the ultra-thin body design.

But will these features be enough to beat the other manufacturers?

Mozilla To Launch An OS In Response To Chrome

Mozilla is about to step into the OS market with a brand new open source Operating System. It announced today that it is going to modify its Gecko engine which is the driving force behind its Firefox browser and turn it into an open source OS.

Experts say that this move can be seen as a response to Google’s Chrome OS. Mozilla and Google are traditional rivals in web browsers. This rivalry will surely go on to next level with Mozilla launching its own OS. This OS is known as Boot To Gecko and is still in its premature stage. It will get around 3-4 updates before its source code is ready to roll in the market.

Boot To Gecko will be used as a mobile OS and could be used both on smartphones and tablets. It will feature new APIs for better development and will have Android as a kernel. These APIs will be web based and will let web developers to make calls, send files easily and will provide superb security features which are much needed now a days.

Though this news is absolutely fantastic, experts say that Mozilla could be sued under patent infringement by some companies. This could force Mozilla to fight a long battle as patent infringement laws are strict and if found guilty, it may have to close down its project.

What do you guys think?

Italian Cyber Police Attacked By Anonymous And Lulzsec

It appears that hacker groups Anonymous and Lulzsec have taken a pledge to attack each and every security agency of the world. After FBI and CIA, they have now attacked Italian Cyber Police’s website and published their confidential data on their website.

The Cyber Security Unit admitted that they’ve been attacked but they didn’t comment whether any sensitive data has been stolen. On the other side, hackers claimed that they have had access to very sensitive data and in order to prove this, they published a series of documents as it is a custom of Lulzsec and Anonymous to release all the data they get access to.

The hackers claim that they’ve stolen 8 MB of sensitive data which contains Italian relations with Australia, Belarus, Egypt, Russia and Ukraine.

It should be noted that this attack come immediately after Anonymous and Lulzsec promised to make the security agencies pay back after they raided and arrested several Anonymous members.

Lulzsec announced last month that it would discontinue its hacking activities after an arrest was maid in UK. But it has continued its alliance with Anonymous which is known as AntiSec(Anti Security).

The increased number of cyber attacks by these two groups have put security agencies in turmoil. The total strength of these groups remains unknown. They’ve targeted every big name ranging from Sony, Nintendo, Apple Inc. to the security agencies like CIA and FBI.

When will they stop?
