Apple To Sue Samsung Over White Galaxy S II ?

Apple is planning to sue its top competitor Samsung over its ambitious plan to launch the white Galaxy S II. Apple and Samsung are already fighting a lawsuit which says that the Korean giant has copied the iPhone and iPad’s design in its Galaxy range of products.

Though Apple and Samsung are business partners(Samsung manufactures Apple’s A4 chips) but ever since Apple Inc. started to sue its Korean partner, both have turned bitter rivals.

This rivalry can be dated back to the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy range of products when Apple first sued it for “deliberately copying” the iPhone 4 and the iPad 2.

Apple is thinking that these lawsuits might make Samsung more heedful about its future devices but it doesn’t seem so.

Samsung has announced that after seeing its Galaxy S II’s huge success, it is planning to launch a white edition of it in Britain later this year. Moreover, the leaked photos of the white Samsung Galaxy S II are already flooding the Internet.

Both these tech giants are making superb products but had they been into a healthy competition, users surely would have been benefited.

Will these companies ever think of resolving their feuds outside the court?

Android Tablets Will Beat iPad In 5 Years

Android’s rivalry with Apple’s iPad started with the launch of Android OS for tablets. Ever since their launch, Android tablets are giving a tough competition to the Apple’s beast. According to a study, Android tablets are taking the market share from the iPad at a very high speed.

It is expected that Android tablets will beat the iPad in terms of sales in 5 years and that is a huge compliment seeing that the iPad nearly owns tablet market.

Many factors are responsible for Android’s high growth rate which include better APIs , better apps, open source OS and the ease to use. Furthermore, unlike the iPad, Android tablets get regular updates for their OS which enables them to use the latest services provided by their carriers.

Of course, it will not be easy for Android tablets to remove the iPad from its first position but if we look closely on the growth rate of Android tablets, it is nearly confirmed that Google’s pet will replace Apple’s demon from the throne and will take its crown.

Whatever be the outcome of this competition, users will be hugely benefited from this rivalry as it will bring down costs and will ensure that users get best services from their tablets.

Let’s see what future has in store for us.

Mozilla To Launch An OS In Response To Chrome

Mozilla is about to step into the OS market with a brand new open source Operating System. It announced today that it is going to modify its Gecko engine which is the driving force behind its Firefox browser and turn it into an open source OS.

Experts say that this move can be seen as a response to Google’s Chrome OS. Mozilla and Google are traditional rivals in web browsers. This rivalry will surely go on to next level with Mozilla launching its own OS. This OS is known as Boot To Gecko and is still in its premature stage. It will get around 3-4 updates before its source code is ready to roll in the market.

Boot To Gecko will be used as a mobile OS and could be used both on smartphones and tablets. It will feature new APIs for better development and will have Android as a kernel. These APIs will be web based and will let web developers to make calls, send files easily and will provide superb security features which are much needed now a days.

Though this news is absolutely fantastic, experts say that Mozilla could be sued under patent infringement by some companies. This could force Mozilla to fight a long battle as patent infringement laws are strict and if found guilty, it may have to close down its project.

Android Gingerbread Coming To AT&T

Surprise for AT&T users! If you have got an Android phone and are a subscriber of AT&T, you might get an Android Gingerbread update. AT&T has announced that it would start upgrading subscribers to Android 2.3, known as Gingerbread, in the coming weeks.

The upgrade will start with Motorola Atrix 4G and will subsequently come to 6 other handsets. This upgrade was long awaited as AT&T users were not able to upgrade their Android OS. This announcement will definitely prove a bliss for them.

Though this version of Android is not the latest one, but still it will certainly add some cool features which the previous versions were lacking. This version comes with improved GUI, new applications, cool API and many other features.

Usually, Google launches a number versions of its Android platform in a year. This keeps users happy but sometimes it takes a hell lot of time for users to get those updates on their devices.

The updates get such a long time to roll out because every company uses different hardware. And to make that hardware compatible with the current version of Android OS, some modifications are made in the OS. This whole procedure takes a lot of time. Currently, only Google Nexus gets periodic updates for its OS as it is released by Google itself.

Facebook App For The iPad Already There?

The long awaited Facebook app for the iPad might be already in the market. This app has not been officially released yet but it has been found in the code of its iPhone version.

According to TechCrunch, the iPad version of Facebook app was stealthily coded into its iPhone counterpart. This app can be used by anyone who has an iPad but there are slight modifications that the user will have to make in order to use this app.

It has long been said that Facebook is planning to launch an app for the iPad but Facebook has never provided a comment on this issue.

Whenever an app for any Apple product has to be launched, it is first submitted to Apple Inc.

Apple then takes some time in reviewing that app and finally that app is made available for the users. Usually, this whole process takes a lot of time because Apple doesn’t specify the time period of its revisionary process.

Even if the claims of TechCrunch are genuine, this app would require jailbreaking your device to use it and that thing is illegal and Apple will not provide you any warranty if your OS gets malfunctioned in this process.

Our take at this news is that the users should wait a while for the launch of the official app. If you cannot wait, there are hell lot of apps available to access Facebook that don’t need tampering with your device.

We’ll keep you informed regarding this app.

Google+ Planning To Start Social Gaming?

It seems that Google+ will not rest until it replaces Facebook as the largest social network. A recent find shows that Google+ is about to launch its gaming section and your high scores will be shared and displayed on Google+ stream. It also means that Google is planning to evolve Google+ Stream as a central gaming hub that will show results based upon your scores.

This news was first found at Google+ Help Pages where it was written that,”If you’re looking for updates shared from games, check out your Games Stream”. These words were immediately removed as this news started spreading like forest fire.

If Google+ is really going to launch this service, Facebook will have to think of something unique that could bring back its glory. Else, Facebook is sure to meet its end like MySpace did.

This new service was the center of attention ever since Google+ was launched. Vic Gundotra, senior vice president at Google Social, himself hinted that a new gaming service might be on its way.

All of us know that Facebook games have revolutionized the concept of social gaming. Millions of Facebook users play games like Farmville everyday. If Google+ wants to replace Facebook, its gaming service should be upto the scratch and that task is not easy.

We’ll keep you posted on this topic.

Google To Warn Users About Malware Infection

Google is going to start a new service through which it will warn users if their computer has been infected with malware. This service will help users to check whether their web searches have been hijacked to spy on them.

According to an official Google blog post, this malware routes web traffic through a small number of proxies. This malware was detected during the routine maintenance of one of Google’s data centers.

Damian Menscher, a Google security engineer said that,”After collaborating with security engineers at several companies that were sending this modified traffic, we determined that the computers exhibiting this behavior were infected with a particular strain of malicious software, or ‘malware’.”

Though according to Google, they are introducing this feature to help users but we think that it will also let malware authors to replicate and write various fake notifications and that is not a hard task. They can misdirect a user to follow their commands and ultimately the user will find himself amidst malicious code.

The question here arises that how can Goggle possibly tell whether a computer has been infected or not. The answer , according to the Google official blog, is that only those users will be notified who appear to be routed through proxy servers to use Google services.

This step taken by Google is undoubtedly good but still it will be a pretty hard task for users to identify a legitimate notification as we already know that there are tons of infected sites which claim to provide the same notification.
