BlackBerry All Set For The iPhone Challenge

RIM(Research In Motion) will be releasing 5 brand new phones including its first ever all-touch screen phone within weeks. RIM has taken more than a year to release its new models and is expecting that this move will bring back its lost reputation.

These phones will be available on more than 200 carriers worldwide and are meant to increase RIM’s market share. Though this is a good news for BlackBerry lovers, these phones are not expected to generate a lot of success for the company.

The Canada based company is currently facing its worst time in the smartphone market. Recently it fired nearly 2000 of its employees in order to provide financial stabilization to the company.

RIM’s stock has fallen upto 68% and it is not expected to rise quickly. A lot of reasons are responsible for RIM’s failure but the delay in launching new phones is the major one.

Apple is going to launch the iPhone 5 in this fall and a lot of Android phones will be rolling around that period too. RIM will face a tough challenge from the world’s leading manufacturers in near future.

No detailed specifications were available till this post was written. We’ll keep you updated.

LG Launches The World’s First All-In-One PC With FPR Display And IPS Screen

LG has introduced the world’s first All-in-One PC which enables users to view 3D content using a special type of lightweight goggles instead of the conventional heavy shutter type ones. This PC was made in collaboration with Intel, the world’s leader in processor technologies.

This All-in-One marvel is named LG V300 and has 23″ multi touch screen, 8GB of RAM, AMD Radeon HD 6650M graphics, a Blu-ray optical drive, a 750GB HDD and supports upto second generation of Intel Core i7 processor.

The choice of Hi-Speed and SuperSpeed USB is also there and users can choose from Bluetooth 2.1 and 3.0 according to their need. LG V300 is DLNA compliant and has HDMI support.

The best feature in this PC is that it comes with the same Film-type Patterned Retarder(FPR) display technology which the electronics giant uses in its CINEMA 3D TV. This feature provides users relief from using heavy 3D goggles as it provides support for the use of lightweight 3D goggles.

The In Plane Switch(IPS) screen technology helps users who cannot directly face the 23″ LED screen by providing 178 degree viewing angle, thus relieving them from poor quality images.

This beast will be unleashed first in Korea and soon after will see the release in other parts of the world.

Manufacturers Get A Sample Of Microsoft Mango

Microsoft has decided to provide handset manufacturers with its latest Windows Phone OS, codenamed Mango. This move has been made so that manufacturers could test and then deploy it in their handsets.

This can be seen as the final field trial before the OS rolls out in the market. This version has long been rumored to be the best Windows Phone OS from Microsoft. It is worth noting that Microsoft has recently made a deal with Nokia, according to which the American giant will provide its Windows Mobile platform for the Finish companies future handsets.

This news was first seen on official Windows Phone blog which read as,“This marks the point in the development process where we hand code to our handset and mobile operator partners to optimize Mango for their specific phone and network configurations. Here on the Windows Phone team, we now turn to preparing for the update process.”

Our opinion on this move is that this is the last chance Microsoft has to cash its Windows Mobile Platform. Previous version of its Mobile OS did very poor business. They were not able to survive in the mainstream market. Though Microsoft has made a deal with Nokia, but it is unlikely to boost its sales as Nokia itself is facing crisis at this time.

We’ll keep you posted on this.

Google To Warn Users About Malware Infection

Google is going to start a new service through which it will warn users if their computer has been infected with malware. This service will help users to check whether their web searches have been hijacked to spy on them.

According to an official Google blog post, this malware routes web traffic through a small number of proxies. This malware was detected during the routine maintenance of one of Google’s data centers.

Damian Menscher, a Google security engineer said that,”After collaborating with security engineers at several companies that were sending this modified traffic, we determined that the computers exhibiting this behavior were infected with a particular strain of malicious software, or ‘malware’.”

Though according to Google, they are introducing this feature to help users but we think that it will also let malware authors to replicate and write various fake notifications and that is not a hard task. They can misdirect a user to follow their commands and ultimately the user will find himself amidst malicious code.

The question here arises that how can Goggle possibly tell whether a computer has been infected or not. The answer , according to the Google official blog, is that only those users will be notified who appear to be routed through proxy servers to use Google services.

This step taken by Google is undoubtedly good but still it will be a pretty hard task for users to identify a legitimate notification as we already know that there are tons of infected sites which claim to provide the same notification.

Google+ App For The iPhone Is Now Available

Good news for the iPhone users! You guys can now access Google+ with an official app available in the app store from your iPhone. This app was being awaited since the launch of Google+ at the end of previous month.

Though, at the launch of Google+, Google said in a blog that iOS app was on its way but since Apple never provides time-line for its app approval proceedings, the final release date was not announced at that time. Now at last, our wait is over.

When Google initially presented the app to Apple, there were rumors that Apple may not approve it. These rumors were based on the fact that Apple has rejected some products in the past that it thinks can pose threat to the iOS and the iDevices.

We already know that Google+ has more than 10 million active users and that too in just two weeks. Now, by adding an iOS app, the number will increase for sure. Till now, only Android users could enjoy Google+ on their phones.

According to Vic Gundotra, the head of google’s social division, “This app may not be available immediately to everyone because of the high nymber of requests from users.”

We’ll keep you updated on this as soon as an update arrives.
