Spotify Sued By PacketVideo

The collaborator of Facebook has been sued by PacketVideo over patent violations and its music streaming technology. Spotify has recently collaborated with Facebook to provide online music to its users. The lawsuit claims that Spotify violates patents owned by PacketVideo which deal with “method of streaming music over data networks”.

Tech experts were waiting for something of this type to happen as the technology used by Spotify is not unique. Users might have noticed that Spotify, apart from providing music online, has no other USP.

The Britain based online music provider company has started its US services just 2 weeks back and in that short period of time, has a lawsuit up its sleeve.

Spotify said that it will strongly present its side as it is sure that no patent has been violates. The lawsuit has been filed in the Netherlands and San Diego which claim that Spotify has “deliberately” used PacketVideo’s technology.

Spotify is strongly contesting PacketVideo’s claims as according to it, its technology is “highly innovative, proprietary hybrid technology that incorporates peer-to-peer technology”.

Though a hearing has been scheduled, still an agreement could be made outside the court.

We’ll keep you updated on this matter.

Google+ Gets 20 Million Users

Google+ has broken each and every record in the history of social networking. This is the first ever social networking website, which has grabbed 20 million users while still being in a field trial mode. It has became one of the greatest social networks of all time in just 3 weeks.

And to add more, Google+ is still not available to everyone. It is an invite only website. The maximum number of users are from USA closely followed by India. Surprisingly, China, the world’s most populous country is not even in the top 10 countries with the highest number of users.

Just imagine, when Google+ becomes famous in China, the traffic will increase tremendously and it will lead Google+ to become the top brand in social media market.

Google+ is growing at a rapid speed as compared to its competitors. Facebook, which holds the top position, is terrified from Google+. This can be easily proved as Facebook announced two brand new services(Spotify and video chat feature) soon after the launch of Google+.

Currenly Google+ only offers 4 services. On the other side, Facebook provides infinite number of services to its users. Once Google+ starts working in this field, it will become very tough for Facebook to retain its top position.

Do you think that Facebook will meet its end like MySpace did?
