Gmail Introduces Preview Pane

Gmail has introduced a new feature in the form of Preview Pane which will enable users to browse emails when they are replying to some other at the same time. This feature was long awaited and was finally launched yesterday.

Preview Pane may be a new feature for PC users but it has been there for a while in Gmail’s tablet apps. Users of iPad and Android based tablets are familiar with Preview Pane.

This feature is now available in Gmail Labs and its design is almost identical to that of its counterpart used in tablets.

When a user activates Preview Pane, a three window panel opens up with Preview Pane in between the navigation and email panes.

Users can customize Preview Pane as per their need with the help of a settings button which is present at the top right corner of Gmail.

Users with high resolution screens will get the most of this feature but those with normal resolution need not to worry as Preview Pane will work fine with their screens also.

Though this feature sounds good but a lot of work is needed to make it better. We’ve used this feature and drawn a conclusion that it is still a beta product and it needs a lot of testing. It does not work well with Gmail labels if used in 3 panel mode.

Will you be using this feature?

Google Introduces Better Search Experience For Tablets

In order to provide tablet users with a better search experience, Google has optimized its interface. This move has been made mainly to attract iPad and Android based tablet users.

This new feature has come after a series of changes that Google was adding to its other web based services like Gmail and Google+. The new design is a basic one and no extra feature has been added.

The main thing that Google has done here is to provide users with an easy to use interface by which they can access their content more easily.

It was always a little bit of trouble for touch device users to explore the content using Google as the search button earlier was small.

The redesign solves this problem as it has a larger search button with more white space and exclusive visual styles all of which are user friendly.

Google is doing its best to beat its competitors in the user interface field. Recently, it was complained that the user interface of Google+ is not as good as that of Facebook.

We seriously hope that Google keeps on improving its existing features so as to provide its users with the best.

Let us know your views about this new interface.

Android Tablets Will Beat iPad In 5 Years

Android’s rivalry with Apple’s iPad started with the launch of Android OS for tablets. Ever since their launch, Android tablets are giving a tough competition to the Apple’s beast. According to a study, Android tablets are taking the market share from the iPad at a very high speed.

It is expected that Android tablets will beat the iPad in terms of sales in 5 years and that is a huge compliment seeing that the iPad nearly owns tablet market.

Many factors are responsible for Android’s high growth rate which include better APIs , better apps, open source OS and the ease to use. Furthermore, unlike the iPad, Android tablets get regular updates for their OS which enables them to use the latest services provided by their carriers.

Of course, it will not be easy for Android tablets to remove the iPad from its first position but if we look closely on the growth rate of Android tablets, it is nearly confirmed that Google’s pet will replace Apple’s demon from the throne and will take its crown.

Whatever be the outcome of this competition, users will be hugely benefited from this rivalry as it will bring down costs and will ensure that users get best services from their tablets.

Let’s see what future has in store for us.
